In honor of Jeff Ament:
Save The Turf Foundation – http://savetheturf.com/
As one of only two remaining American skateboard parks from the 1970s, the Turf is a unique part of our history. It attracted riders from around the world bringing revenue to the city of Greenfield and the surrounding communities. The Turf’s card-carrying members included top pros like Tony Hawk, Mike Vallely, Lance Mountain, Tony Alva, Jason Jesse and Jeff Kendall. Our first mission is to help fund the immediate protection of the now exposed pools from the harsh Wisconsin winters. Second, we will help fund the restoration of the pools and attract sponsors and investors to the new development.
Tosa Skateboarders United – http://tosaskateboardersun
The Tosa Skateboarders United skateboard park project began in early 2004 as the Wauwatosa, WI community realized the need for a facility of its type for local kids. There is no legal place for skateboarders and BMX bikers to practice their sport. A public forum was held on the topic of providing a skateboard park in the city. Citizen adults & youth, business leaders, teachers, the recreation department and the police department attended in support of the cause. Soon after the forum, a group of interested community volunteers came together to turn this idea into a reality. Now, many of the kids are becoming involved with all aspects of the project such as, speaking and demonstrating to the community and planning the construction process.
In honor of Mike McCready:
Advocacy for Patients – http://advocacyforpatients
Advocacy for Patients with Chronic Illness, Inc. is the only advocacy organization in the United States that provides free information, advice and advocacy services to patients with chronic illnesses in all areas of need including health and disability insurance, Social Security disability, employment discrimination, school-based accommodations, resource location, and more.
In honor of Matt Cameron:
Guitars in the Classroom Music Education – http://guitarsintheclassro
Guitars in the Classroom inspires, trains and equips general classroom teachers and specialists to integrate music and music making across the academic curriculum through “song-based instruction” so students of all ages have the opportunity to learn through making music together in class, everyday. Their work prepares and supports educators to lead the way competently and confidently, employing music as a powerful tool for reaching all learners, teaching all subjects, and building character and community in their classrooms.
In honor of Stone Gossard:
The Natural Resources Foundation of WI – http://www.wisconservation
The Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin creates opportunities for individuals and organizations to deepen their understanding and appreciation of Wisconsin’s natural resources, support state and local conservation programs, and establish conservation endowments. Since 1986, our Foundation contributed more than $4.5 million to save endangered wildlife, protect natural lands, and support environmental education and outreach. Learn more at wisconservation.org and join us in exploring, protecting and caring for Wisconsin.
In honor of Eddie Vedder:
Honor Flight – http://www.honorflight.org
Honor Flight Network is a non-profit organization created solely to honor America’s veterans for all their sacrifices. We transport our heroes to Washington, D.C. to visit and reflect at their memorials. Top priority is given to the senior veterans – World War II survivors, along with those other veterans who may be terminally ill.
In honor of JenTro & Wisconsinites everywhere
