PEARL JAM FANS HOST FUNDRAISERS FOR BAND’S FALL TOUR SUPPORTING NEW ALBUM
CHICAGO/SEATTLE – Wishlist Foundation, a Pearl Jam fan-run grassroots nonprofit organization, is hosting fundraiser events around each Pearl Jam concert on the band’s two-leg, twenty-four date North American tour this fall. Known as ‘preparty fundraisers’, the Wishlist events draw thousands of fans from all over the world to one location in each city to join together in celebration of the Pearl Jam fan community and unite in support of charitable organizations the fans and band are passionate about.
Open to the public, the Wishlist Foundation pre-concert fundraisers will be held in large capacity bars and restaurants, most within a five minute walk of the concert venue. “Besides having a great time at our fundraisers, we always want to make sure that fans travel safe too,” says Eric Long, foundation Treasurer. “Safety and convenience are super important to us,” adds Jenny Hieronymus, Events Director.
Fundraiser attendees can make donations to receive incentive items like Pearl Jam inspired t-shirts, buttons, accessories and more and can enter raffles to win fan-donated Pearl Jam memorabilia. There will also be live and silent auctions that feature autographed and rare Pearl Jam and pop culture items. All proceeds from the raffle and auction will go directly to the beneficiaries designated by each event’s organizers.
“It’s such an honor and a privilege to have the opportunity to get together with like-minded individuals who happen to all be Pearl Jam fans to raise money for a great cause,” states Thomas Fyfe, one of three volunteer organizers hosting the Wishlist fundraisers for Pearl Jam’s two night stint at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY on October 18th and 19th.
“Pearl Jam fans are some of the most generous and dedicated people I’ve ever met,” states Pittsburgh volunteer organizer Melissa Waldron, “Fans pulling together during tours for great causes leaves me with a sense of community that I’ve never felt before. I’m honored to be a part of it all.”
Pittsburgh is the first fundraiser of the tour and will be held conveniently onsite at the T.G.I. Friday’s Consol on 5th Avenue. The Pittsburgh preparties will raise money for the Courage for Life Foundation and Animal Friends, two of many deserving organizations the Wishlist Foundation fundraisers will benefit over the course of Pearl Jam’s fall tour.
Pearl Jam will kick-off their two-leg, twenty-four date North American tour this fall in Pittsburgh on October 11 and wraps in New Orleans with the band’s headlining performance at Voodoo Music + Arts Experience during the weekend of November 1. The second leg of the tour commences in Dallas on November 15 and closes in the band’s hometown of Seattle on December 6.
Pearl Jam will release their much-anticipated tenth studio album, Lightning Bolt, on Monkeywrench Records/Republic Records on October 15, 2013 in the US. Internationally, the album will be released on October 14, 2013 and distributed by Universal Music Group International. Produced by Brendan O’Brien, Lightning Bolt marks Pearl Jam’s first studio album since the highly acclaimed Backspacer, which was released nearly four years ago in September of 2009. The first track off of the album, “Mind Your Manners” was released on July, 11, 2013.
